– Annual Meeting
Monica
Farina reported to Phil that the date has been confirmed with Holiday Inn North
Haven, but the contract has not yet been signed. There was discussion re the
format and scheduling for the meeting to allow for sufficient time for both the
speaker presentation and CAPHN business. The tentative time schedule is for Phil
to welcome the membership at 12:00, Annual Report at 12:15 PM, Elections at
12:30 PM and the speakers to follow. Lynn Abrahamson will contact Daun Barrett,
who will address the role of the PHN in Hurricane/Disaster Preparedness, and
Chuck Motes, who would speak to the role of the Local Health Dept, presumably
drawing on their experiences in the Hurricane Katrina response and recovery.

Business

New Business:
Phil has received an email asking if CAPHN
would be willing to sponsor an after action/follow-up regarding this year’s
flu season issues. Interested groups include CADH, CPHA, DPH, and CAPHN. It was
suggested that DAS might also be invited, as they are the purchasing group for
state contracted vaccine. Possible locations for the meeting include the state
DOT office building, or possibly CT Hospital Association. It was suggested that
January might be a suitable month for this meeting, and it might therefore take
the place of the CAPHN January networking meeting.
To date, no CAPHN member has expressed
interest in serving on a newly forming DPH vaccine advisory committee. Debbie
will contact Barbara Dingfelder to see when the group will be meeting.
There was a great deal of discussion re
preparation for election of officers in the spring. All member at large
positions will be open, as will the positions of Secretary and President. It was
agreed that 2 to 3 representatives from the general membership would be
solicited to serve as a Nominating Committee, and present a slate of officers
for the May elections. Debbie will send an email to the membership providing a
description of the duties of the positions, and asking for interested parties to
contact Phil or a member of the board for more information.
