Present: Phil Greiner, Debbie Horvath, Andrea Lombard, Margaret Balint, Monica Farina, Heather Henning, Beth Strimpel, Eileen Boulay, Lynn Abrahamson, Barbara Dingfelder

Phil Greiner called the meeting to order at 4:50 PM.  Copies of minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and accepted with an amendment to note that there was discussion and agreement on including the revised Scope and Standards of Practice in CAPHN programs. Copies of the revised minutes will be provided for inclusion on the CAPHN website. Motion was made by Lynn and seconded by Barbara to approve the minutes as amended. Motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer Report – There was no treasurer’s report available.

Committee Report

Education – Monica reported that she has secured the Holiday Inn in North Haven for the Annual Meeting on May 3, 2006. The meeting will include lunch for approximately 40 attendees and will run from 12 to 4 PM. A contract, menu, and projected costs are expected shortly. There was discussion re a suitable topic for the meeting. Some possibilities include environmental health issues, the role of the PHN in environmental health, role of the PHN during Katrina-like emergencies. It was mentioned that there are several PHN’s that went to the affected areas in MS, LA, AL after the hurricane and might be suitable speakers for a panel discussion of the role of the PHN, and what they observed as far as environmental impact of the water, waste, trash, etc. Monica will follow up re tentative speakers and panel, but emphasized the need to include time for CAPHN meeting business, elections, etc.

New Business:

Phil noted that comments on the Draft Revision of Scope and Standards are due by October 10. It is expected that there will be discussion at the APHA meeting, and that the task force will schedule a meeting following the comment period. It was suggested by Andrea that we provide an update at the January networking meeting.

Unfinished Business

It was suggested that Phil forward a letter of appreciation to Bob Marandola for all his efforts in developing our new logo and stationary.

Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on November 8th at CT Nurses Association office in Meriden at 8:30 AM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Debbie Horvath
